This page is the Financial Services Agency's official NISA website, explaining Japan's tax-exemption investment system. NISA (Nippon Individual Savings Account), launched in 2014 based on the UK's ISA model, exempts investment gains from taxation. The new system starting January 2024 features unlimited tax-free holding periods, expanded annual investment limits up to 3.6 million yen, and a total tax-free limit of 18 million yen with reusable capacity. Residents aged 18 and over can open an account at banks or securities companies, combining both accumulation and growth investment categories.
