This page describes the Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA), a private organization established under the Certified Public Accountants Law. Founded in December 1966, JICPA maintains the integrity of CPAs and improves audit certification services. Its responsibilities include member guidance and supervision, professional ethics standards, continuing education, audit and accounting research, and registration of CPAs and audit firms. JICPA holds exclusive authority over CPA supervision, registration of CPAs and designated members, and registration on the listed company auditors roster as specified in the CPA Law.
