This page reports on a door malfunction of JR East's Limited Express "Kaiji No. 28" train. On March 28, while traveling near Hatogaya Station in Yamanashi Prefecture, the driver's monitor indicated a door opening. The driver applied emergency brakes and stopped the train. The door on the left side of the train was found open. Approximately 250 passengers were aboard with no injuries reported. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's Transportation Safety Commission classified this as a "serious incident" that could lead to major accidents and dispatched railway accident investigators.
