This page reports on the death of Kentaro Ogawa, founder and chairman of Zensho Holdings, a major restaurant company, on April 6 at age 77. Born in Ishikawa Prefecture, Ogawa founded Zensho in Yokohama in 1982. The company operates numerous restaurant brands including "Sukiya" beef bowl chain and "Hamaushi" sushi chain. Through aggressive acquisition strategies, the company expanded to include brands like "Nakau" and "Lotteria." In March 2025, the company became the first domestic restaurant enterprise to exceed 1 trillion yen in sales. Ogawa transferred the presidency to his second son in June 2025.
