This page announces the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's results from demonstrating AI-optimized terminal operations and verification of its effects, released on May 26, 2023. As container ships have increased in size, improved cargo handling efficiency at terminals is required. An AI system was developed with container import/export time prediction capabilities and integrated with the Terminal Operating System for field demonstrations. Results showed significant reductions in "cargo reshuffling" work (up to 83%) and confirmed that planning operations could be executed at practical speeds. An adoption guideline was also prepared for operators considering AI system implementation.
