This page reports the Fair Trade Commission's efforts on consumption tax pass-through measures in the first half of fiscal year 2020. To ensure smooth and appropriate tax transfer following rate increases, the Commission addresses and prevents tax pass-through refusal practices. In the first half, 287 consultation cases were handled. Written surveys were conducted with approximately 2.8 million small and medium-sized businesses and 80,000 large retailers and major companies. Hearing surveys were also conducted with 444 businesses and 442 business organizations. The Commission will continue these efforts based on the Special Measures Law to strictly address any future refusal practices.
