This page announces high-speed operations on the Hokkaido Shinkansen through the Seikan Tunnel during Golden Week 2026. From April 27, 30, and May 3-7, trains traveling through the tunnel between the first departure and approximately 3:30 PM will operate at 260 km/h instead of the standard 160 km/h. This "time-slot division method" separates freight and high-speed train schedules. The implementation reduces travel time between Tokyo and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto by 6 minutes. This system began in 2020 at 210 km/h and upgraded to 260 km/h during last year's Golden Week.
