This page announces inspection orders on imported foods implemented by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare on February 19, 2016. Pirimiphos-methyl (an organophosphate insecticide) exceeding the standard was detected in Italian rice, and aflatoxin (a carcinogenic fungal toxin) was found in Turkish almond products. Two Italian rice violations were detected at 0.27 ppm and 0.50 ppm, exceeding the 0.20 ppm standard. Turkish almond oil contained 18 μg/kg of aflatoxin, surpassing the 10 μg/kg regulatory limit. All violating products are being held in storage pending resolution.
