This page describes the "Post-installed Anchor and Continuous Fiber Reinforcement Design and Construction Guidelines" for renovation works on existing buildings. In February 2006, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism amended its ordinance to allow specification of allowable stresses and material strengths for post-installed anchors, carbon fiber, and aramid fiber in existing building renovations. The guidelines establish design and construction conditions for these materials. Target applications include installing reinforced concrete walls or steel braces using post-installed anchors, and reinforcing columns with continuous fiber sheets. Within specified ranges, an approval certificate is required; outside these ranges, case-by-case conditions apply.
