This page reports an incident on March 11 in Umeda, Osaka, where a giant steel pipe unexpectedly rose from underground at a sewage tunnel construction site. The pipe, approximately 3.5 meters in diameter and 30 meters long, surged over 10 meters above ground, causing significant traffic disruptions during morning rush hour. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, but widespread congestion affected the area. Osaka City's construction bureau explained that the pipe, known as a shaft, had been submerged while groundwater was flowing. After the water was drained, the pipe rose. The exact cause remains under investigation.
