This page outlines Japan-US transportation technology cooperation established through an implementation agreement signed in February 1994. The framework promotes comprehensive collaboration across transportation sectors including railways, automobiles, maritime, ports, aviation, and barrier-free transportation. Expert meetings facilitate mutual exchange of transportation technology policies and strategies between the two nations. The cooperation was designated as a common agenda item in the Japan-US Comprehensive Economic Dialogue during the 1993 Japan-US summit. Ten expert meetings have been held through 2005, with sessions held in various locations including Tokyo, Washington, Los Angeles, and Dallas.
