This page reports that media artist Yoichi Ochiai (38) was promoted to professor at the University of Tsukuba's Library, Information and Media Department on April 1, 2026. This promotion came approximately eight and a half years after his appointment as associate professor in 2017. Ochiai established the Digital Nature Laboratory at Tsukuba in 2015 and serves as director of the university's Digital Nature Development Research Center. Following his promotion, he will continue his teaching positions at the University of Tokyo's graduate school and other universities through cross-appointment arrangements. As both researcher and entrepreneur, Ochiai served as a theme business producer for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo.
